Skywarn Training
Skywarn is a course that is very similar to the Spotter Network. You can now take it online or contact your NWS office to see where and when they have a public course. Upon completion of this course, you will get a Skywarn spotter card. This course is also free of charge whether it is in person or if it is online. Highly recommend!!!
College of Dupage
We use this page here to monitor weather models and help us make forecasts for the upcoming few days. These models help us have an understanding of what the weather will do pretty accurately out about 7-10 days.
Pivotal Weather
This site helps us with weather models too. It is a wonderful alternate to COD weather, and often we use them hand in hand
Spotter Network
In order to place spotter reports, we all went through the Spotter Network training courses. These courses are among the best resources for learning to identify different parts of thunderstorms, how they work, and what to watch out for. Spotter Network does require you to make an account, but it is so worth it to learn all there is to know. It is free as well, so it is accessible to anyone. This and Skywarn are two of the best resources to give you.
Tornado Titans
This site has exceptional tutorials in learning the fundamentals of storm chasing, identifying parts of a storm, live radar, and some great in-depth videos of thunderstorm development and how to read skew-t’s.
